Dear Cho Cho,
We are now back to Israel after the wonderful trip you arranged for us in Myanmar during Feb. 2017.
This is a good opportunity to thank you for all your support and arrangements before and during our trip. You have responded very promptly to all our questions and requests. Every change or question we raised were answered accurately and in very timely and professional manner. All planning for the tour was carried in full cooperation with us and any change in pricing was presented to us and approved in advance.
Greeting us at the airport in Yangon on our arrival to Myanmar was highly appreciated and contributed to our confidence in you and your organization. During the tour itself all guides were very knowledgeable and polite and spoke very nice English. As promised in advance by you they were very flexible with adjustments and changes to our schedule as we requested. All domestic flights arranged by you were on time and with nice and very clean aircrafts with a highly professional crew.
Hotels were very good with great staff and wonderful rooms and most of them with great breakfast.
We were three couples traveling together and enjoyed very much all your arrangements. We also enjoyed very much the country and the people we met, the views, landscape, holy places and nature reserves we visited. Inle lake was a special experience and even though we heard about it before seeing in reality a whole community of so many people living their daily lives practically on the water was a unique experience for us. We wish your country a lot of progress and increased tourism and investments that is so much needed.
Thank you for the farewell presents you gave us before our departure, they will be a nice reminder of a great trip.

My wife and I have just returned from a fortnight in Myanmar superbly organised by Tamarind Travel. We had considered the option of using a UK based tour company, but took the ‘plunge’ and after a little research on the web identified Tamarind Travel. We ended up chosing Tamarind Travel first because of its clear Website which described in detail suitable itineraries for a 1st time visitor to Myanmar. Second, because the manager Cho Cho very promptly replied to all my email queries about our proposed itinerary and rapidly came up with a personalised schedule to meet our requirements.
On arrival in Myanmar, as has been described by previous travellers, Cho Cho was present at the airport to greet us and explain our itinerary for the next fortnight – a most pleasant personal touch. She had organised local Professional guides at all of our destinations – all of whom were excellent and very knowledgeable – Myanmar has a post graduate Professional tour guides training school in Yangon and tour guides are appropriated matched up based on the native language of their guests; we witnessed fluent French, Italian and German being spoken by local guides.
Internal organisation of transport by Tamarind Travel was immaculate, we were taken around in very comfortable air conditioned cars with local drivers familiar with the local ‘rules of the road’ peculiar to the big cities!
Our guides all adapted to us, for example responding to our requests to have mid day meals in ‘non tourist’ restaurants/ cafes – all of which were excellent and gave us additional insight into real Myanmar life. The guides were also all flexible around Cho Cho’s published itinerary to suit our individual needs as the tour evolved and happily accommodated any requests.
In summary, Tamarind Travel is an example of how a foreigners’ tour of Myanmar should be organised – we therefore give Cho Cho’s company our 100% endorsement and wish her and her colleagues well for the future!

We have just completed our third tour of Myanmar. This time for 13 Nights. All of our tours have been booked through Tamarind Travel. Why would we book through anyone else when Cho Cho Jewel runs such an efficient company?
Just like our two previous trips Cho Cho, the Principal of Tamarind Travel was waiting at Yangon International Airport to greet us and make sure our luggage and us arrived safely.
This trip ran exactly to plan thanks to Tamarind Travel. Hotels were booked as per the itinerary, internal flights were booked without any problems, Transfers were waiting at the airports to take us to our accommodation and our guide was friendly and informative.
This time, on Cho Cho’s advice, we stayed at the Ngapali Bay Villas and Spa.What a wonderful time we had there. The hospitality of the General Manager, Mr Gilles Flores and his staff truly had to be experienced to be believed. In all our travels, which are considerable, we have never experienced such warmth and generosity from hotel or resort staff. It was truly amazing.
The new Government of Myanmar must be putting considerable faith in tourism. The new International Terminal at Yangon airport is very impressive and judging by the size has been built to accommodate large numbers of tourists. Regional air ports are being replaced with new terminals all over the country as is the Domestic Terminal in Yangon.
If you are looking for a truly wonderful travel experience without any troubles we can recommend Myanmar and don’t forget tobook through Tamarind Travel.

We recently did a Myanmar 9 night/10 day Private Tour with Tamarind Tours headed up by Ms Cho Cho Cholwin. We booked with them purely on the recommendations from the reviews of previous travellers and we were not disappointed. Myanmar and it’s people are a lovely country, so steeped in history and culture and Ms Cho Cho knows how to show it to you.
Ms. Cho Cho runs a extremely professional company and she put together a tour that covered what we asked for and more. Nothing was a problem to organise and she was very prompt in getting back to us answering queries.
Right from the start the guides were always on time, didn’t have any trouble linking up with them, spoke very good English and very knowledgeable. Nothing was ever a problem and they always understood what we were asking and quick to satisfy our needs. A particular “stand out” was Ms Lwin Lwin Moe in Bagan, very knowledgeable and who was mindful of looking after me as I had hurt my foot just before coming away and she was very caring. Ask about a Vegetarian Restaurant (not that we are vegan) she took us to for lunch which was so good and so cheap. We liked it so much that we went back without her in the night and she organised a car and driver to pick us up from the Hotel take us there, ….wait, and then bring us back, all very easy.
After four internal flights, private clean air conditioned cars with Guide and driver, 5 hotels all comfortable, clean and central (including good breakfasts) two of the Hotels were top class, possibly Four Star, we thought that our Tour was very reasonably prices.
If we ever go back to Myanmar, we would definitely use Tamarind again especially if it is still run by Ms. Cho Cho.

Myanmar 16 Day Visit – October 2015
Tamarind Travel is a wonderful resource and can make a huge difference to your trip in Myanmar! We were so fortunate to have met Cho Cho at the beginning of our visit to Myanmar. From the very beginning, Cho Cho was warm, welcoming, extremely helpful, and very hospitable. She met us in person on the very first day we arrived in Yangon, taking time out of her busy day to ensure we felt comfortable and welcome in Myanmar. She quickly organized an itinerary for us and had excellent recommendations for every city we went to. She was very accommodating and adjusted several of her suggestions to match our “backpacker” budget and our thirst for adventure. Because of the intricate system of buses, trains, and planes in Myanmar, it was almost necessary to use a tour agency to plan an efficient route and maximize our time there. We were so happy with the route that Cho Cho laid out for us — Yangon – Bagan – Mandalay – Hsipaw – Inle Lake. We especially enjoyed our trek from Kalaw to Inle Lake, for which Tamarind has great guide suggestions. Cho Cho was always very quick to respond to any question or request we had while traveling, and she would book flights and tickets for us to save us any hassle. We can’t recommend Cho Cho and Tamarind Travel enough! Cho Cho truly became a friend to us and ensured that we had a pleasant, safe, and memorable visit to her country.
Thank you for everything Cho Cho and Tamarind Travel!!

Visit Myanmar 10 Nights 11 Days – May 2015
Friday, 12 June, 2015
As we had been travelling independently for nine months already, we never used a travel agency before. But since we only had 11 days in Myanmar and we wanted to make the most of it, we decided to do so anyway.
We found Cho Cho and Tamarind Travel via another website and from the very first moment, we felt we had made a good decision. We were talking to someone who knew what she was doing and with a great love for her job and her wonderful country. This makes a huge difference in comparison with foreign travel agencies arranging everything in a country they don’t really know.
It took us quite some time to decide what exactly we wanted to see and do and Cho Cho gave us a lot of options and proved to be extremely flexible and patient. She made a personalized itinerary for us and managed to include the four main tourist destinations and a trekking through some small villages, so we really had an excellent introduction to the country.
Another reason for that is that she provided us with four different, but fantastic guides, who were all very fluent in English and in explaining to us the difficult history of Myanmar and how it functions today. They were all knowledgable and sympathatic. Tamarind also found some fabulous hotels for us. Absolutely everything was arranged very well. This made us feel like kings, but in this way we were also able to see and do more than we would’ve ever been able to when we would’ve arranged it all ourselves.
In the end, we payed a very fair price for all this. When you add up the cost of all the flights, hotels, guides, mini vans, drivers, and so on, we don’t think we would’ve managed it cheaper ourselves. And last but not least, Cho Cho was there herself to greet us when we arrived and personally put us on the plane back to Bangkok as well. Also, during our travels she regularly checked up on us to see if everything was according to wish. We have nothing but praise for Cho Cho and Tamarind Travel and would happily work with them again on our next trip to Myanmar, which is already on our minds!

Visit Myanmar 7 Nights 8 Days – May 2015
Our tour to Myanmar was arranged efficiently in a very short time by Tamarind Travel. In 8 days tour every hour was utilized so that we could do maximum sightseeing in a limited time as per our choice. Selection of hotels was commendable also with all of them being conveniently located. Tour guides were very informative, co-operative and spoke English fluently. Overall Tamarind Travel along with the guides and drivers provided excellent service. Cho Cho’s personal attention and systematic arrangements added to our convenience and made our tour a seamless experience. Will surely recommend Tamarind Travels to friends and relatives to discover this wonderful country.
Third Trip to Burma 9 Nights 10 Days – February 2015
Dear Cho Cho,
We have just returned from our third trip to Burma. As always Tamarind Travel has helped us have another wonderful experience. This time we visited Yangon, Sitwe, Mrauk U and Ngapali Beach. Highlights of our trip were visits to villages in Mrauk U and Ngapali Beach where my wife and I were personally able to donate used eyeglasses to Burmese villagers. We are so glad you are now afiliated with the SeeBurma program. SeeBurma is a program that encourages travelers to Burma to bring new or used eyeglasses with them for donation to Burmese villages and clinics. Our guide in Mrauk U arranged visits to nearby villages and in Sittwe he arranged a visit to a clinic, where a donation of $35 pays for a cataract operation. In Ngapali Beach our hotel, Ngapali Bay Villas arranged visits to donate glasses to nearby villages and a clinic.
It was such a gratifying experience for us to be able to donate used eyeglasses directly to people who need and very much appreciate them.
Thanks again to you ChoCho and Tamarind travel for facilitating all this.

Dear Cho Cho,
I cannot tell you how much your personalized service and travel advice helped me plan the TRIP OF A LIFETIME to Myanmar. Just knowing you and your reputation throughout Myanmar put me at ease and I trusted you and your advice 100%! The trek you organized for me and my sister between Inle Lake and Kalaw was a LIFE HIGHLIGHT! I felt so safe and secure – – amazing as we were trekking with just a small backpack through villages where many people had never seen two girls travel alone, let alone foreigners. The entire experience was extraordinary! I’ve been to 71 countries and this was BY FAR the most rewarding cultural and humanitarian visit I’ve ever had. Spending the night in Buddhist monasteries was incredible and the cooks always prepared such lovely, local meals for us. Truly amazing.
I also enjoyed the beauty of Bagan and Yangon with Cho Cho. Visiting local villages and communities. Cho Cho has an incredible way of making her client’s vision a reality and exposing a very local experience.
Thank you for making this one of the best travel experiences of my life and for tailoring such a unique experience for me!
I cannot recommend Cho Cho and Tamarind Travel enough! Go to Myanmar as soon as possible! Such an incredible experience seeing a country that is just opening up.

Visit Burma 8 Nights 9 Days – January 2015
Friday, 13 February, 2015
Just had an excellent “Best of Burma” tour organised by Tamarind Travels. For 8 nights/9 days in January 2015 a lot was packed in, and the service provided by Cho Cho, the tour consultant, and the 4 guides was first class.
Considering this was a relatively inexpensive tour compared to big name companies, the quality of accommodation, the transportation provided and the standard of the guides was excellent. The guides were definitely not the huffy monotone sort frequently found on organised tours, they were friendly, engaging and fun.
Knowing Myanmar is a devote Buddhist country I knew there would be a lot of temples and pagodas I thought I might get fed up seeing them again and again. However, the carefully selected itinerary and imparted knowledge from the guides meant this never happened, the history, style and differences for each were highlighted and made them all of interest.
But then there were so many other things to see and experience as well! The culture (fairly laid back), the impressive scenery, the numerous monumental sites and exquisite details have all left a lasting impression, but in particular Bagan and Lake Inle stood out for me . And as for the people, wherever I went they were good humoured, friendly, polite, courteous and gave Thailand a run as “the land of smiles”.
Nothing seemed too much trouble, even a requested change to the itinerary was readily organised (I wanted to change my departure point from Yangon to Tachileik).
Overall, an excellent value, well structured and coordinated tour. My thanks go out to Cho Cho, Kyaw, Aye, Albert and Joyce for making this an wonderfully unforgettable holiday.

Visit Burma 11Nights 12 Days – November 2014
Thursday, 04 December 2014
After visiting Burma last year and experiencing firsthand the wonderful organization of Tamarind Travel and the warmth of the Burmese people we felt we had to put a tour together for our Probus Club in Australia.
We were met at the Yangon International airport by Miss Cho Cho Lwin, the principal of Tamarind Travel and a member of her staff. Nothing is a problem for Cho Cho and her staff. Even with many changes by our group she just made the necessary changes and everything went perfectly. She always kept in touch and answered our question promptly.
Tamarind Travel organzised everything, Guides, Transport, Transfers, Accommodation, Internal flights and assisted with the itinerary.
Visas are now very easy to apply for. Tourists can apply on line and pay with a credit card.
We had our meals included this time (It’s easier with a group). The restaurants were chosen by Tamarind and we had a wonderful varity of cuisine ranging from Italian, Western, Thai, Burmese and in Mandalay were even taken to a restaurant where the locals have their lunch. (A very interest experience). Every meal was delicious and in the cleanest of restaurants. People with special dietary needs were catered for.
Our accommodation was perfect for the group, always very clean, and with the usual very friendly and curious staff.
Two of our guides were the same as 2013 and it was a delight to renew our friendships with them. All the guides were friendly, curious, and very informative. Burma does a wonderful job of training tour guides.
The hot air balloon ride in Bagan was the highlight of the tour for most of the group. Something they will never forget.
We cannot speak highly enough of Burma as a travel destination if you are looking for a destination which is different and will continue to surprise. Book through Tamarind Travel for a hassle free tour.
We are now planning where next in Burma.

Best of Burma 9 Nights 10 Days – October/ November 2013
Tuesday, 26 November 2013
We booked a 10-day tour through Tamarind Tours on the internet. The company was completely unknown to us at the time of booking.
Tamarind Tours are an extremely efficient and professionally run company who left nothing to chance. Their pre tour information was excellent, they answered all our questions promptly and kept in touch through the booking process.
I have dealt with many inbound operators over the years and can honestly say Tamarind Tours are the best I have come across.
We had 4 local guides in 4 different locations.
Their English was of a very high standard, they were very courteous and happy to assist us where ever possible. (One even gave us some very welcome photography lessons) They were flexible and happy to alter the itinerary if requested. They were all punctual and arrived before the appointed time.
My only criticism which is minor was, not being a morning person, our guide in Yangon talked non stop on our way to the airport at 6am in the morning and perhaps concentrated too much on Buddhism when some history and points of interest in the city would have been welcome.
We found all our drivers extremely careful and even in the heaviest traffic we felt very safe at all times.
Vehicles were new and roomy, the drivers kept them in showroom condition at all times.
We stayed in a mix of 3, 4 and 5 star hotels. Rooms were very clean, all facilities worked, the staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem for them. They were very keen to help and assist us and did not look for tips.
Two of the hotels were set in beautiful gardens, which were very well maintained.
My only criticism of the accommodation is the hotel in Bagan had forgotten to light the burners under the hot breakfast one morning resulting in the food being cold.
Breakfast was included at the hotels and depending on the star rating served an appropriate breakfast. Lunch and dinner were not included in the tour package.
For lunch we were taken to restaurants by the guides, which were inexpensive, the standard of both service and food was excellent. We found a wide variety of cuisine on the menus.
For our evening meals we ate in the hotels on most occasions (except Yangon) and again found the meals inexpensive, the standard of service and the quality of food extremely high.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Myanmar. The criticisms I have are very minor. Would we go again? Most definitely yes.

Myanmar is a truly magnificent country still emerging from the cocoon of its past. After deciding to visit this alluring land, our next best decision was to enlist the services of Jewel (Cho Cho) Cholwin of Tamarind Travel. Cho Cho came highly recommended by friends who had travelled with her company a couple of years prior to our visit. We were absolutely delighted with every aspect of our tour. Rarely does one find a tour operator with such high levels of service and commitment as Cho Cho. She worked tirelessly to tailor a fabulous itinerary that incorporated all our wishes and preferences. To this she added some lovely surprises along the way. Indeed Tamarind’s hallmark is the personal touch that Cho Cho gives to all her guests. Tamarind Travel comes with our highest recommendations. Myanmar and Cho Cho will always hold a special place in our hearts – Thank you for wonderful memories.

How to return to a magical country after three decades? Would it charm once again despite growth and change? In the care of Tamarind Travel, a visitor can revisit sights and pleasures and discover ones previously missed. At home we first conferred with a local agent about places to visit. Irene Wong of Red Lantern Journeys in turn worked with the experienced Cho Cho Lwin, who found us acceptable lodging and knowledgeable guides. From my wish list Irene and Cho Cho developed an itinerary suited to our interests and physical limitations. Having delayed too long to plan this trip, we were in suspense just weeks before departing about whether we had reservations in Bagan and at Inle Lake. It all worked out, including a thrilling balloon ride over Bagan, thanks to Cho Cho’s persistence.
Our first guide was superb but became ill during our long drive to Mawlamyine. He carried on, a true professional, but felt he should drop out after our return to Yangon. Cho Cho found a replacement whom we found resourceful and knowledgeable as well. In Yangon we saw attractions I had asked to see, some of which would have been hard to find independently: General Aung San’s home, his office (above a fine restaurant), the Jewish synagogue, and the once grand Pegu Club. An impulsive stop was the Sule Pagoda, now much upgraded. Of course, we walked around the Shwedagon Pagoda in two visits, both at sundown, and admired it from our hotel room.
When our guides learned we prefer Burmese food, they took us to local, often humble but safe restaurants. They switched objectives when we indicated our disinterest in certain sights. Our long drives and boat rides with them provided insight into Myanmar’s agricultural diversity: rice paddies and rubber plantations southeast of Yangon, crops of legumes and grains in Central Myanmar, and hydroponic tomato farms on Inle Lake. And who knew about active oil wells south of Bagan?
From our hotel on Inle Lake we enjoyed boat trips to weaving workshops, a forge, a jewelry workshop, and on land to a sugar mill and a molasses plant. My urge to paddle a canoe was arranged readily by our guide in consultation with Cho Cho and our hotel—at dusk. Next time, the desk clerk declared, after my paddle with a local boatman, she would paddle with me.
I was pleased to see progress on many fronts since my earlier visit and was delighted to be able to chat with local people, sometimes only via our guides. The people seemed genuinely interested in us.
We were amazed that she picked us up personally at the airport and delivered us back again at trip’s end. Cho Cho, an exceptionally considerate travel agent, developed and managed a trip beyond my wildest dreams.
All the best from us!!

Our trip to Burma was wonderful; a beautiful and interesting country with a spectacular variety of sights and experiences including interacting with a peaceful and warm population. The fact you are reading this means you are already interested in going to Burma so you have seen how amazing it looks -and indeed you will not disappoint, but using Cho Cho and Tamarind Travel was also one of the reasons our trip was so memorable. Tamarind offers a tailor-made feel to their trips and no detail is ignored, the level of attention Cho Cho pays to ensuring your trip is a success is incredible and her hospitality was exceptional. We felt like we had made a friend not only in Cho Cho but also with Burma and we will definitely be returning to see both in the not too distant future.

I cannot say enough good things about Tamarind Travel and its owner, Jewel Cholwin (Cho Cho). I returned to Myanmar in March 2012, after having lived there as a child. Cho Cho went the extra mile in making sure my husband’s and my trip was absolutely perfect. Each hotel and guide in Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay, and Inle Lake was carefully chosen and memorable. Cho Cho is very careful about the details that make the difference between ‘ordinary’ and ‘unforgettable.’ Cho Cho also took extra steps, such as locating places and people I had known many years before, to make sure our trip would be perfect. Cho Cho was responsive to our emails and careful with handling all financial transfers. I recommend Tamarind Travel to anyone visiting Myanmar.

Compulsive traveller: confession
An attempt to share unforgettable experience (for free).
We (a man of 76 in (relatively) good shape and two attractive women of 70 and 71; only one is mine) having travelled, enjoyed and temporarily shared lives with people of over hundred countries, being slightly tired with nervous and shouting drivers, fed-up with sour and cheating faces and chilly manners of “advancing countries” and high criminality and drugs and drunks everywhere, bans of all kinds and types (incl photos), we have decided to see and visit and enjoy “something special”. Thus we started seeking “a perfect country”: neither racial nor religious clashes and frictions, safe roads and streets, days and nights. Friendly manners of the nation. Optimistic mindset.(I´ll give you a smile, give me one of yours.) Without neither worries, nor threat or falsy promises. No danger in eye contact. No photographing ban anywhere: streets and even religious places. Centuries lasting culture and architecture and history in its development presented not only in museums.
We had succeeded in this challenging and almost crazy search. A shock?! That is what we felt.
The very purpose of my lines is to seduce you and make you confirm/deny my/our unforgettable experience and (in the best case) our travel principles. (Not tour description in details.)
We prefer travelling on an individual bases (not in groups served by domestic/local “foxing” tour agencies). It requires: a safe/reliable air co. and a very professional local tour guide. Very honest, adequate in pricing, realiable and accurate in organisation, professional in guidance etc. It is difficult to say what is harder. Air co. is less withinn Europe than a number of travel agencies in “our perfect country”: exceeding 500.
I am both proud and happy to say: our tough choice proved to be right: Tamarind Travel and Tour Co. A leading role and significance of a company director is generally recognized in modern management, let alone in Europe and the US. The success and failure of a company starts with his/her job efficiency. This is to explicitly state our most sincere admiration and thanks to Ms. Cho Cho Lwin (37): bright eyes, Hollywood model look (irrelevant), but most caring, accurate and responsive, mails answering within hours. (Her job performance far exceeds that of a standard man). Her guides are universities graduated (best: Mr. Si Tu), life experienced, patient, friendly and most tolerant youngsters, one could imagine.
There is no intention to describe what we had seen, visited, enjoyed, learned and admired. (See Magnificent Tour description in their WWW sites). But what I do feel it is necessary to say: despite quite a complicated programme there had not been any minor misunderstanding, let alone a failure in tour programming and preparation. And the tour: 16 days, 11 flights (home to home) met our dreamy expectations incl. the major one: we fulfilled our goals, we saw/and learned incredible things and places and we also enjoy much being back in our own beds at home. (You may take it for “a physical health state test”.)
Many thanks Ms. Cho Cho for your care, accuracy and being. When leaving your country we all felt you had done most for the country image. We felt in love with you both.
We wish you best luck.
Best regards: Dr.Milan Ruzicka, Prague, Czech Republic
P.S. Sorry for having forgotten to name our perfect country: Myanmar (former Burma).

Myanmar “ The land of smiles!
Dear Cho Cho,
We are just back home to Belgium from a stunning trip to Myanmar. While editing our pictures back home I noticed in my book shelves a Lonely Planet for Myanmar which I already bought some 6-7 years ago. It took us quite some time since then to finally go and we are very happy that we went now to experience the beautiful land of smiles.
While preparing for the trip I got in touch with Tamarind Travel, a local travel agency run by the very charming and customer-focused owner Mrs. Cho Cho. We jointly designed the trip based on itineraries and experiences Cho Cho has and based on our requirements combining Yangon with Bagan, Mandallay and Inle Lake. The whole trip was perfectly organized and over-fulfilled all our expectations. The hotels chosen were very nice, clean and small enough to feel almost at home. The four drivers and guides we had at the various points of our travel had been very helpful, attentive, friendly and informative. It was also an unique opportunity to get a closer view on the daily lives of some 60 million Myanmese while spending time with our guides and encountering various locals during our trip.
When coming back home and to work I was asked what makes Myanmar so special €“ the beautiful smiles of their people, the friendliness and humbleness of its inhabitants, the vast choice and difference in scenery, the richness in culture & history, the very well conserved religious sites, and last not least Tamarind Travel . Cho Cho and her staff made this trip very special to us! We had the pleasure to meet Cho Cho on our last day for lunch which we all enjoyed very much!
We will be back !!

Dear Cho Cho,
It€™s been 2 weeks since I returned from, what I can safely say, €œthe best vacation I€™ve ever had in my entire life€ in Myanmar.
I have travelled to many hot spots in South East Asia€™s (SEA) including Thailand, Indonesia & Vietnam. Myanmar wins hands-down for me. The country€™s natural beauty is unspoiled and archeological sites are unrivalled.
Her people are the best jewel. All the Myanmar people I encountered are hard-working, honest, humble, nonviolent and very pleasant. All are eager to please their guests. Having also travelled to many parts of the world (ie Hawaii, Europe, North America), I dare say Myanmar people€™s hospitality is world class and definitely one of the best!!
Of course, all these positive experiences could not have been possible, if I have not found you and Tamarind Travel. Thank you very much for taking care of my needs so immediately and making my impromptu journey as a first time single lady traveler so customized and memorable. I especially enjoyed the short time we spent together as 2 single ladies about town shopping for jewels on a public holiday (ie. May 1, 2011 when all the markets and museums were closed).
Lastly, I would like to wish you my very best and Tamarind Travel every success. You are definitely a strong and intelligent lady, who despite all the limitations imposed by your government, have been able to make Tamarind Travel a world class travel agency (especially in terms of service turnaround time).
I would very gladly and confidently recommend you and Tamarind Travel to all my friends and anyone who wish to embark on a visit to Myanmar anytime!
Warm Hugs and Love,

Dear Cho Cho,

Visiting Myanmar 10 Nights 11 Days – December 2010 to January 2011
Dear Cho Cho,
We just managed to find time to download the photographs and we were all thinking of what a great time we had in Myanmar. We have travelled with our young kids to so many countries, but this particular trip was the perfect combination of comfort and interesting experiences. Myanmar has the just the right mix of great scenery, good hotels despite being very non touristy, history, culture, awesome food, and some really really nice people!
We are specially fortunate to have toured the country through your agency €“ you offered at exceptional service at the outset, and delivered even more than promised. Your handpicked guides were all very good, and your personal touch is impeccable. Thank you for all the little extras you provided us during our journey, I was so impressed by how quickly you and your guides reacted to our comments and changed plans to accommodate our needs. Anusha and Akhil still remember the time you spent playing with them.
Hope we can stay in touch, and do visit us when you are in Singapore next.

Visiting Myanmar 9 Nights 10 Days – December 2010
Dear Cho Cho,
Now that Steve and I are back from our wonderful vacation in Burma ( Myanmar ), we would like to thank you for our unforgettable trip.
I want to congratulate you for the honest and fulfilling manner in which you do business. From the inception that we discovered Tamarind Travel and Tours, you have not only communicated with us religiously, but everything which you said and promised come to life as you said it would. The only difference was that many of your promises had been minimized by you and turned out to be even better then your indications.
The hotels which you selected were great and the three meals a day which you had prepared for us were as good as in any country that I have ever visited ( and I have traveled the world ). The trip down the Irrawady River on the boat which you arranged, was excellent. The Captain and the crew paid great attention to the running of the ship and to each of it’s guests. The cabins were well appointed and completely comfortable. The only problem with the food on the boat was that there was too much of it.
The flights within the country on Air Bagan were conducted in a highly professional manner and with experienced crews. As an ex- airline owner and pilot for some 60 years, I am not easily, but was very impressed. Each of the guides and drivers which we traveled with spoke English and knew their areas well.
All in all, the trip was truly SUPERIOR and the price was extremely reasonable.

Visiting Myanmar 7 Nights 8 Days – July 2010
We greatly appreciate Tamarind Travel for arranging a fantastic 8-day tour in Myanmar in July 2010. We visited Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay and Inle Lake in a well-organized itinerary which has covered most of our interests. Cho Cho is a wonderful lady who is very accommodating to our requests. She is very patient in working out an itinerary with us to ensure that the best arrangements are made within our budget and interests. She is willing to go out of her way to ensure that we are happy with the arrangements. She is also exceptionally fast on emails, which makes us think that we are important clients! We used stationed guides in each location. All the guides were professional and are very helpful to make sure that we were well taken care of. In particular, Melvin, our guide in Yangon, and San, our guide in Bagan, were very knowledgeable and informative, and they made our stay especially educational and enjoyable. We are genuinely happy with Tamarind Travel’s service and would not hesitate to recommend the company to our family and friends.
We would also like to make a special recommendation for Aquarius Inn in NyaungShwe. The hotel owner and staff were fantastic hosts. They gave us maps, served us tea and snacks at all times, and delicious breakfasts and also traditional medicine when we had stomach problems! The hotel was one highlight of our trip!
Out of all the tour arrangements, we would just like to make a comment on the hotel in Bagan (YarKinnThar Hotel). There was no back-up generator in the hotel and we had not been warned. There was frequent power failure during our stay in Bagan, and often during our siesta in the afternoon when it was very hot. There was no air conditioning in the room due to the power cut, and have therefore made the stay quite uncomfortable.
In addition, you have mentioned to us your company policy that the guide was to refrain from having meals together with clients. However, in Inle Lake, our guide sat together with us during our meals. We did not have to pay for her meal, and we saw other guides doing the same at other tables, so we did not raise the issue. We did not mind her eating with us as it seems to be the normal for all the guides, but we thought we would just like to let you know.

Visiting Myanmar 7 Nights 8 Days – May 2010
We were in the process of deciding which southeast Asian country to visit when a few people suggested Myanmar to us. As it was going to be our first time and we didn’t know much about the country, we decided to take a tour agent to help us make the most of our trip and decided on Tamarind Travel because I felt the website to be very professional – and it was defintely a great choice.
Myanmar is such a beautiful country with amazing landscapes, history and culture. We have visited most all countries in SE Asia, but now Myanmar is our favourite. It is untouched, unspoilt – just stunning. I’m very happy we decided to take Tamarind Travel to help us with our itinerary as you really need to take a plane and visit at least 3-4 places within the country.
Cho Cho, the manager, was extremely helpful and efficient and created for us a delightful itinerary. Any sudden changes we wanted made was done without hesitation. All the hotels chosen for us either met or exceeded our expectations. The tour guides were very knowledgable and passionate about their country which made the trip a whole lot more enjoyable.
I anyone looking for a holiday in the SE Asia to seriously consider Myanmar. It is unspoilt with stunning scenery, you can feel as tho you were stepping back in time, lots of beautiful temples and things to see.
We wanted that with a mix of luxury which we got in some amazing hotels with great service too. We highly recommend the Govenors Residence when in Yangon – beautiful little colonial hotel with excellent restaurant.
We had a wonderful time in Myanmar.

Visiting Myanmar 7 Nights 8 Days – April 2010
Dear Cho Cho,
We have just returned from a wonderful 8 days in Myanmar. We were charmed from beginning to end with the friendliness of our welcome and the sights we experienced.
The trip was very well organised by Tamarind Travel to which we were first attracted by their excellent website. The responses to all our enquiries were by return and always very pleasantly dealt with. The provision of guides, cars and drivers was flawlessly organised and carried out. Based on the very good background information on the web site we were able to personalise the tour to our particular tastes and schedule, always efficiently assisted by the Tamarind Managing Director Ms Cho Cho Lwin.
The fact that we arranged, adjusted and started our visit within 10 days from initiation of the idea speaks volumes for the responsiveness and efficiency of Tamarind Travel and Cho Cho in particular. We have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Tamarind Travel to take care of any tour in Myanmar and have already passed on our glowing reports on Myanmar and Tamarind Travel to our own friends and colleagues.
With kindest regards and thanks once more,

Visiting Myanmar 7 Nights 8 Days – April 2010
My Great Adventure
My trip to Myanmar is one that had been a long held dream. Thoughts of Rudyard Kipling and George Orwell sitting on the veranda in Mandalay sipping gin and tonic as they watched time pass transported me to another era and a wish to travel the road to Mandalay.
By the old Moulmein Pagoda, lookin’ eastward to the sea,
There’s a Burma girl a-settin’, and I know she thinks o’ me;
For the wind is in the palm-trees, and the temple-bells they say:
“Come you back, you British soldier; come you back to Mandalay!”
A good flight was important as we were travelling overnight so we choose to travel with Malaysian Airlines and flew from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur to Yangon. Travelling business class helped.
Our arrival in Myanmar was at Yangon (formally Rangoon) International airport. The airport was a sign of things to come. It was modern, air-conditioned and clean and the people were very friendly.
Moving quickly through immigration we were met by Tamarind Travel (Cho Cho Lwin), who greeted us warmly and quickly facilitated customs and the arrival of our luggage. We were then whisked off to our hotel for a quick freshen up then lunch and the start of our great adventure.
The itinerary included Mount Popa, Bagan, Mandalay and the Inle Lake area. We travelled by plane, car, boat, canoe and bullock cart. We were continually amazed at what we saw. The age and history of the area in Bagan was fascinating especially when sitting up in the tower at the Aureum Palace hotel surveying the thousands of stupors.
Mandalay lived up to expectations, the highlight being the boat ride to Mingun and then the bullock cart ride to the Mingun bell.
The quietness of the Inle Lake area was a stark contrast to the business of down town Mandalay or Yangon, but there was still a lot to see and do. There were the jumping monkeys, the markets and the other hotels around the lake.
Our wonderful guide Sithu looked after all the arrangement including the early morning wake up calls. All arrangements worked smoothly and just seemed to flow like the Irrawaddy River.
The initial contact with Cho Cho and the booking of the tour all went very smoothly and Cho Cho was able to answer all questions promptly and made some very good suggestions about our itinerary.
I can highly recommend Tamarind Travel to anyone wishing to travel through Myanamar as I know that you will see some fantastic sights and everything will run smoothly.

Visiting Myanmar 7 Nights 8 Days – April 2010
Our seamless sightseeing tour of Myanmar was arranged by the talented Tamarind Travel team, ably and delightfully led by Mrs Jewel Cholwin(Cho Cho). Every email from start to finish was fastidiously furnished with detailed information on our visa requirements, destinations, itinerary, hotel reservations, dietary requirements, travel tips and internal flights. Cho Cho’s thoughtful contingency plans for international flight connections were warmly welcomed, especially by one of our party who had to fly to a business meeting in a different destination to the rest of our party.
The choice of hotels, restaurants and transport were tailored to our needs as air conditioning was a priority in the April heat. We were able to appreciate the highlights of the political, economic, environmental, social and technological fabric of the warm folk of Myanmar in a relaxed and engaging way. The cultural insights of the Water Festival slowly emerged along our journey as with each stop we saw construction of audience seating on main city streets taking shape. The tour guide provided a first hand glimpse of traditional Myanmar culture regaling us with stories of his exciting experiences during Water Festivals in his own youth. His professional and expert guiding experience over many years was evident as he maneuvered us through crowds and maximized our sightseeing time in each location from the best possible vantage points. We were offered flexibility in our down town walking tours, hopping on and off ferries to observe local customs and ways of life. He personally transported us on motor cycles at Inle Lake to make our tour more comfortable and even collected our shopping from the tailor at the markets on our return to Yangon after a week of touring. We have travelled extensively in Asia and have never seen such patience and courtesy as this.
Cho Cho’s every attention to detail was above and beyond the call of duty in her personal overseeing of our airport arrival and departure, daily checks on our needs, and the thoughtful seating and furniture arrangements at the candle light dinner on the lawn at the Governor’s Residence on our last night in Yangon. This certainly made our Myanmar holiday a memorable one for us. We added a few Australian adventure pixels to the Myanmar picture but the true animation of the vacation scene was masterfully orchestrated by Tamarind Travel.

Visiting Myanmar 8 Nights 9 Days – March 2010
Dear Cho Cho,
What an amazing tour we had with Tamarind Travel. I must commend you on the organisation. Every query before we booked, and arrived, was answered promptly and always the same day. Our tour was everything that we wished. Our hotels were excellent, the food package superb and the itinerary provided us a good overview of Myanmar today. We very much appreciated meeting you on arrival at the airport, and your time with us as we left Myanmar. Your friendliness and helpfulness will remain with us. We have visited 78 countries and this tour would have been one of the best we’ve had in regards to organisation and lack of hassles.
The tour itself was very interesting. The three guides we had did an excellent job. They were knowledgeable and keen for us to have a memorable tour. Stopping to take photos was never a problem, best places to take photos was suggested and going out of the way was not a problem. We did make a few changes as there are only so many temples and stupas one can take. The guides were always sympathetic to our needs and at no time were we made to feel a nuisance. Having said that, our changes to the itinerary were very minor. We have done much travelling throughout Asia and the world and are very experienced in cultures and mores, so there was no need to visit silversmiths etc when we have seen the same techniques in all the other Asian countries and South America. Instead, we used the time to visit places and shops that appealed to us. Guides are not allowed to take commissions and this was confirmed by you, and we appreciated their help in finding suitable shops, items and at a good price.
It is impossible to speed in Myanmar (50kph is breathtakingly fast at times) so we always felt safe in our car with our driver and guide. Despite the slow speed we didn’t feel as if we were dawdling, and the scenery was never boring.
Its people that make a place. The Myanmar people were friendly, quick with a smile and showed great tolerance for we tourists. At all times we felt safe. The visit to Mandalay, Bagan & Inle Lake showed just how diverse this country is; each location providing so much history, culture and fabulous photo opportunities.
Thank you again for your friendship, help and for providing us with a great tour.

Visiting Myanmar 11 Nights 12 Days – February 2010
I am John Ang, a Yoga Instructor and Asian Art Consultant from Taipei, Taiwan. I booked my tour with Tamarind Travel from February 22nd to March 5th, 2010.
As I have never been to Myanmar I was willing to look at it with an open heart and to trust the tour agency, Tamarind Travel.
Thanks God I was in good hands.
My host Cho Cho Lwin, was there with her guide and quickly cleared me through Customs (with a Visa on Arrival), and took me immediately on my tour of Yangon.
I think that Tamarind Travel is a very experienced travel company. I felt that from the very beginning they grasped what I desired on this trip.
One of the best moments of my trip was sipping Myanmar milk tea on the roadside of little India, in Yangon. Everything was so basic and simple, styrofoam boxes for our tea tables and folded cardboard for our chairs. It was so unpretentious and the tea was sumptuous. The most amazing aspect was the contrast of the simple surroundings against the people around me, who were dealing from their pockets little paper packages of precious gemstones.
Though the itinerary was prearranged before my trip and I had agreed to everything. I found that the guides that Tamarind selected were not only very relaxed about my sudden wish to change the itinerary and were even very accommodating about trying to include anything new that was not in my itinerary. For example when I arrived at Mandalay I found I was no longer interested in visiting the silver workshops but instead was keener to go to the pottery village. My personal guide immediately arranged this and it was done so smoothly that I thought it had initially been part of my itinerary.
Other aspects of my travel was also made convenient as the guides know exactly where to take us to change money for great rates and the drivers were all also very pleasant.
Altogether I had three guides and all three were very knowledgeable not only about the history of Myanmar and all its historic buildings and sites, but also about where are the good places to eat. In Mandalay the guide did not even ask me what I would like to eat he just brought me straight to a vegetarian restaurant because he knew I was vegetarian.
One aspect I think the guides can pay more attention to is shopping. Many of the common items like longyis or ladies silk blouses or modern lacquer ware should be part and parcel of every guides vocabulary. Especially regarding the price and the percentage that we can bargain. This will definitely help the unwary tourist who over bargains or who don’t have any concept about bargaining.or what the market price should be.
However, one very good aspect about Tamarind’s guides is that they do not take any commissions from any of the shops or restaurants that they bring you too. This Jewel Cho Cho Lwin had confirmed with me, as she believes it is part and parcel of a guide’s job.
Also I found that even though I had been very annoying asking the guides to stop every other minute to take pictures, none of them complained. In fact they tolerated my ignorance as I took many pictures from the wrong positions. It was after I took the photos that they asked me if I was interested in taking a better view from another angle that they as guides were familiar with. Their patience was much appreciated since many tourists like me always think that we know better.
Though my areas of interest with regards to Burmese culture, mostly ancient sculptures, miniature lacquers, textiles and ceramics, are very specific and not often what the guides are familiar with, I found they took keen interest in what I wanted to learn more about. They also tried to find out more by telephoning other guides and asking them to help.
On the whole I am very pleased with the services of Tamarind Travel. As a tourist I had many worries like my over-weight luggage, getting a proper vegetarian lunch before my departure and clearing customs. But all these details were very well handled by Tamarind Travel as the allowed me to use their office for repacking my luggage and accompanied me all the way into the customs clearance counter to see that I make it through.
I would highly recommend Tamarind Travel to anyone who wants to have a smooth and enjoyable trip to Myanmar.

Dear Miss Cho Cho,
We had a wonderful time in Myanmar from 20 Dec €“ 26 Dec 2009, and would like to sincerely thank you for the well planned itinerary catering to our group€™s needs to every detail (especially our dietary needs).
Indeed, this is our first ever memorable experience with the superb standard and personalized service of Tamarind Travel, and am indeed touched by the simple gestures- making time (despite your busy schedule) to ensuring smooth and safe departure for our group right to the airport.
We were also impressed with the knowledge of our tour guide (Mr Situ) and his patience with us, showing us the many breathtaking views eg the beautiful Pindaya town, Inle Lake etc € which we may never see otherwise.
Tamarind Travel, has greatly changed our perception of Myanmar and allowed us to explore the world and ourselves further. After being seeing most of the scenic views and panoramic landscapes of Myanmar, we finally left with a deep impression of Myanmar. We hope to look forward to another adventuring trip with Tamarind again in the future and of course will definitely share this experience with our friends and loved ones who have missed out on this trip and encourage them to discover Myanmar all over again.
Once Again, we would like to express our gratitude to Ms. Cho Cho, Mr. Situ and the rest of the stuff for creating such memorable moments for us. More importantly, we would like to thank you for making special arrangements to allow us to share our joy with the needy children In Myanmar.
Thanks to Aunty Yen and Uncle Paul too for taking the pain to co-ordinate and get our visas done.
Last of all, we wish you and your staff a Happy and Prosperous Year Ahead!

Visiting Myanmar 13 Nights 14 Days – December 2009
Hi Cho Cho
We arrived back in Singapore with fond memories of our 2-weeks Magnificent Myanmar Holiday (9 – 22 December 2009). We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are very impressed with the professionalism and excellent services of Tamarind tour guides, and especially yourself. Your standard of personal services and attentive details to your clients are very commendable. All the accommodation and arranged meals are excellent, no complaint.
Each of the destinations that we visited has its own unique characters. We enjoyed the evening visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, sunset view from Shwesandaw Pagoda in Bagan, evening walk along the U Bein Bridge in Mandalay, appreciating the unique lifestyles around Inle Lake, and leisure relaxation in Ngapali Beach.
We hope to return to Myanmar for another holiday in the near future, and will definitely encourage our relatives and friends to visit your beautiful country and to engage the services of Tamarind Travel.
Best Wishes & Regards,

We are very pleasant with your service, it was really cool!
There is something that we will always remember and will never forget….. Kyaing Tong! It was much more wonderful than we had thought! The nicest people, most beautiful landscape, not so many tourists….. If I had to come back again, I would spend some days there, going through rice fields to reach the minority villages! It is my best remember!
These two little boys reflect the really feeling that the tourist takes from people: everything is possible with a smile.
Thank you very much!

Visiting Myanmar 1 Night 2 Days – April 2009
To all visitors,
My name is Anders Korswing from Sweden doing aid work in several countries. This means I have to travel a lot and I visit many countries. My first visit to Myanmar was planned with the help of Tamarind Travel service. Having used several agencies I must say that Tamarind was a very pleasant company. Very friendly and most importantly, very professional. All travel arrangements worked out beautifully and most appreciated was for me the VISA on arrival. Traveling a lot seldom gives me the time go to Embassies and therefore this service was most appreciated. The pleasant approach and easiness to communicate I also found helpful and reassuring.
I would not hesitate to visit Myanmar again especially with the help of Tamarind Travel Service

Thanks ever so much for organising a wonderfull holiday to Myanmar.
Every detail was taken care of;
The hotels were excellent – really clean, the staff very friendly and helpful. The location was great for me as a lone traveller, just a few minutes’ walk from the centre, which was just perfect. The tour guides and drivers were very friendly and profesional.
Myanmar is stunning, just stunning. No hesitation in recommending Tamarind to friends and family and will do so if anyone I know is planning to visit the region!
Best Wishes to Tamarind!

Visiting Myanmar 12 Nights 13 Days – December 2008
I have just returned from a spectacular and relaxing visit to Myanmar via Tamarind Travel. A Tamarind staff member was there to meet and greet me upon my arrival at immigrations-it was nice to have this support at the Yangon International Airport.
Because there is not a Myanmar embassy in the country I reside in, I required a visa on arrival. This went very smoothly and I encountered no problems at all-Tamarind Staff facilitated all of this for me.
I spent 9 nights at the Amata Resort in Ngapali Beach for the Christmas Holiday. The accommodations were perfect as was the wonderful and beautiful Ngapali Beach. Ngapali is a quick 50-minute flight from Yangon and the Burmese from the Rakhine State which is one of the 14 different states in Myanmar.
The highlights of my trip included a snorkeling and fresh seafood grilled lunch excursion to a secluded beach. This was an excellent way to spend the day and also included fresh coconut juice! My favorite highlight was being able to experience the cultural highlight of the nearby fishing village called Jade Thoe. Upon my arrival to Jade Thoe, I was fortunate to observe the local staff offloading the evening priors catch on the beach where the fish (or nga) was being spread out over gigantic tarps to be dried in the sun to make a local favorite dish called nga chauk.
Tamarind arranged all of my reservations etc. and provided outstanding support during my time in Burma. I would like to thank Tamarind Travel for their efforts and support during this unforgettable stay in Myanmar!

Visiting Myanmar 12 Nights 13 Days – December 2008
I am at a loss for words to describe Tamarind Travel and their excellent service. I enjoyed my Magnificent Myanmar Tour more than I asked for or even anticipated.
I knew very little about Myanmar prior to my trip, and after a 14-day stay Tamarind€™s hand-selected tour guides provided me with a clear understanding about this lovely country. They were professional at all times, and did everything that I would expect from a guide for a visitor to their lovely country. This was especially the case in Bagan where there were no unnecessary delays while waiting for one of the most breathtaking times of the day-the sunset. And it was nice to have some personal time at the end of the day so that I could enjoy the ambiance of this historic region.
I learned that air travel can be difficult to arrange domestically in Burma due to seat availability and Tamarind ensured I was always on the first flight to the next destination.
The hotel accommodations were outstanding, and my favorite was the Amazing Nyaung Shwe in the Shan State.
Truly I have a lot of admiration for Tamarind and their staff and words cannot express the handling by their staff.
Thank you Tamarind for making my stay in lovely Myanmar a memorable one!
